Our Full Day Cinque Terre Tour begins at 6:45 AM, departing directly from Florence. First, you will meet your tour leader and group before embarking on a scenic 2.5-hour regional train journey. As you travel through the picturesque Tuscan countryside, you can enjoy the rolling hills and charming villages. Consequently, this peaceful start sets the perfect tone for your adventure in the rugged Ligurian region.
Upon arrival at La Spezia station, we will quickly transfer to a local train. This line runs directly along the coast, taking us to our first stop: the postcard-perfect village of Manarola.
Manarola is famous for its pastel-colored buildings that seem to cling precariously to the cliffs. During your 1 hour and 30 minutes of free time, you may choose to stroll through the narrow streets or explore the tranquil waterfront.
Alternatively, you can join our guide for an easy coastal hike. This leisurely 30-minute walk offers breathtaking vistas and panoramic views of the Ligurian Sea. Because the path is suitable for all levels, it is a wonderful opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the hillside vineyards.
Next, we head to Vernazza, which is often considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Here, you will have two hours to explore the vibrant piazza and the 11th-century church of Santa Margherita d’Antiochia.
If you want to immerse yourself in local culture, you can participate in a hands-on pesto-making class. You will learn to create the region’s signature sauce using fresh basil and pine nuts. Afterward, you will enjoy a wine tasting experience, sampling the famous DOC wines produced on the steep terraces surrounding the village.
Our third destination is Monterosso al Mare, the largest of the five villages. It is particularly famous for its stunning sandy beaches and vibrant old town. During your visit, you might wander through the historical center to find quaint shops and local cafes.
On the other hand, if you prefer to relax, you can spend time on the beach soaking up the sun. Monterosso is also well-known for its lemon trees and anchovies, so be sure to sample these local delicacies before we depart.
Our final stop is Riomaggiore, where steep, colorful houses cascade down to a tiny harbor. This is one of the most photogenic spots in the region. During your free time, you can discover hidden corners of the village or enjoy a refreshing drink by the sea.
For those seeking a romantic experience, you can take a stroll along the famous Via dell’Amore (Lover’s Lane). This easy walking path is carved into the cliffs and offers incredible views of the shimmering coastline. It is an iconic part of any Full Day Cinque Terre Tour.
After a full day of exploration, we will take the train back to La Spezia and catch our final connection. We arrive back in Florence at approximately 8:00 PM. You will return with incredible memories of Ligurian culture, stunning scenery, and delicious cuisine.
