Visit the Colosseum and Roman Forum

Experience ancient Rome like never before on this Colosseum and Ancient Rome walking tour. With a private VIP entrance to the Colosseum, skip the long lines and dive straight into history. Recognized as a “New Wonder” of the world in 2007, the Colosseum is one of the most important attractions globally.

Built by Emperor Vespasian in 72 AD and inaugurated by his son Titus in 80 AD, the Colosseum stands on the site of Nero’s Domus Aurea, which was destroyed in the great fire of Rome in 64 AD. The last recorded events in this iconic arena date back to 523 AD.
In later centuries, the Colosseum served as a burial ground and residential area. By the Jubilee of 1675, it was commemorated as a sacred place for Christian martyrs. In 1744, Pope Benedict XIV dedicated it to the Passion of Christ, adding the 15 Stations of the Cross.

Adjacent to the Colosseum, the Arch of Constantine stands on the ancient Via Triumphalis. This triumphal road led victorious marches to the Capitol, celebrating Constantine’s victory over Maxentius at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge in 312 AD.

Historical Rome Walking Tour Itinerary

The tour begins with a visit to the Colosseum, the iconic stage of gladiatorial combat and one of the world’s top attractions. With our private VIP entrance, you can skip the long lines. Next, we will explore the Roman Forum, nestled between Rome’s seven hills. This area, filled with political, religious, and commercial buildings, showcases monuments from various dynasties, including the Temple of Vespasian and Titus, the Arch of Septimius Severus, and the Temple of Romulus.

We then proceed to the Piazza del Campidoglio on Capitoline Hill, a historic center of Rome’s political and religious life. Legend says the Gauls’ night attack in 390 BC was foiled by the sacred geese of Juno’s temple. The square, redesigned by Michelangelo in 1546, features the Senatorial Palace, the Palace of the Conservators, and the New Palace, home to the Capitoline Museums.

Important: Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. In summer, bring sunglasses, and a hat, and stay hydrated.
