Ciao tutti!
Dawn Melissa here with another blog post just in time for World Tourism Day!
What is World Tourism Day?
Well it’s exactly what its name implies. It’s a day the world celebrates tourism! It’s a day that gives us the opportunity to boost awareness for the significance of tourism on a global spectrum. It’s a day when the world comes together and recognizes the value of tourism politically, socially, financially and especially culturally.
So yeah…basically tourism rocks!
And today we’re gonna celebrate like it’s 1999…OK maybe not. But we can participate in this annual celebration in small ways. Here are a few suggestions to help get your creative juices flowing.
Take a Stay-cation
I’m not suggesting you bunk off work, but if you are able to take a personal day and treat yourself to a mani/pedi and mimosa, I say do it. (But only if there aren’t any consequences of skipping work.) Stay-cations are essential to one’s mental healthy and overall happiness. If you can, spend some time enjoying your city or surrounding area and try to look at those familiar streets with new eyes.
Plan your next trip
If you can’t call off work today, then spend some time planning your next trip. Where do you want go that’s been on your bucket list for ages? Maybe it’s time to finally book that flight to Italy and join us over at Italy On a Budget Tours for one of our wine tasting tours or multi-day trips. Get out your calendar and start planning!
Research
I’m still kind of a newbie when it comes to tourism so there’s so much more I need to learn about the best ways to travel and the best ways to see new countries. I read tons of travel blogs and I ask so many questions in all of my travel groups. You could take time today to do the same. Want to know the best way to see Vietnam on a budget? Looking to find the cheapest flights and accommodations in (ahem) Rome but don’t know where to start? Do your research, ask questions and above all, engage in dialogue with your fellow travelers.
We can do this, guys! Let’s make this the best World Tourism Day yet! And to all my fellow wanderlusters and worldtravelers – see you soon!
Ciao for now,
Dawn Melissa
